Lord Ganesha’s Feast of Gifts for 2022

“In late July, there I was {Tarun} watching TV when I felt someone snuggle up next to me on the sofa. Heavy, a ball of joy. There were two little ears flapping. Was it MegaZahod? One of Buffy’s great spirit friends, one of our babies, earth-helper? “Nope”. He giggled. It was Lord Ganesha. Oh? He sat beside me for 10 minutes. Saying he sat beside me is an exaggeration. Have you ever felt yourself in a strong wind on a mountain top with blue skies and a menagerie of creatures great and small? Well, there you have it. {When a major divine form comes around, we usually crosscheck with each other, to make sure we are not fooling ourselves, somehow I didn’t check with Celia}.
Anyway, I clean forgot about it till the other day when Ganesh Chaturthi approached and I began to wrestle with the question who is God? Etc… Etc… And I asked Celia, what are you getting about Lord Ganesha?”
Yummy Menu: The Taster:
She thought a moment and giggled. “He likes Obattu, and in summer Ice Cream…”
“Er… How does he taste the food?” I asked Celia, {knowing the answer, but still everytime we ask new insights emerge}.
Yummy Menu: 2nd Course:
"Lord Ganesha says", Celia answered “I taste the energy of the food… And I taste the energy of the heads of people who offer food to me.”
The second part of the answer, while we know about, but we often forget… For example, awhile ago Sundari* our maid a delightful, proud, creative woman, once replied bitterly at Ganesha time, festivals are only for the rich. She obviously meant that the cost of sweets, clothes, gifts, etc’ was unaffordable. And it can be. There is a Carol, called The Little Drummer Boy… It was composed during The Great Depression, when money was tight as hell, and most gifts were whistles carved, clothes darned… The carol sings of a drummer boy who has nothing to gift his baby-lord. Unlike the wise men who brought handsome gifts of myrrh and frankincense. So instead he gifts God a tune on his drum.

Then Lord Ganesha offers us a 3rd insight… “Since I am deeply connected with the Soul and thunder I sometimes taste the soil, and at times even change the richness of earth that birthed the fruit I am offered”. Wow, now this 3rd bit of Lord Ganesha’s answer blows the head away, for he is saying, ‘I can redo the past to make your humble offering truly kingly’.
Yummy Menu: 4th Course: Am sometimes there even at unimportant times.
Then Celia burst out laughing, for Lord Ganesha told her, “Well, naturally you know I do not wait for Ganesh Chaturthi to look you up, in fact, often when Tarun is watching Scifi TV I join him on the couch. The crackles of his energy are like a little thunderstorm.” Now remember, Celia & I had not discussed that he thought Lord Ganesha joined him on the sofa.
The Gift: The Desert: I am The Ground You Stand On.
As a gift for all of us he gives a thought “Know you stand on my laughter.”
How use this? In many ways. Some esoteric and some easy. The easy one? Walk for 5 minutes rememberin the ground beneath our feet is laughter. Caught by ugly situations. Think this is a joke. Maybe I can change the punchline. Or he can. And so when we walk, we need to remember we can stand on his shoulders and so can stride stronger, walk taller.
